Not at this pretentious restaurant called l'escale.
The appetizer was ok; inventive; smoked salmon on a potatoe pancake;
But it went downhill from there. The shepard pie (British dish) was
underseasoned, the meat gristly, the potatoes tasted instant, and were
not properly broiled. The cauliflower gratin? No gratin at all but a
mass of whitish roux, and undercooked. Water with no ice? Forget about
it!
The little petits fours offered at the end of the meal were the best
part: light, fresh & delicately crispy palmiers and rich coffee
truffles: a good pastry chef lives here.
