Car Show

The weather has been PERFECT here. Steve, Mike and I went to a car show Saturday. It was fun. Many cars. Most were cool. Some were great. A Shelby Cobra signed by Caroll Shelby, the man who put a preposterously big engine into an impossibly light car. Also some good Mustangs and so on. Many older guys selling cars they restored at the behest of some weird inner voices, that one would have to re-restore to make it one's "own". Unless you happen to want the particular neon green on that roadster, or a blue engine in a bright yellow truck.

I like old cars, the mechanics are neat, the designs are always interesting. In the restorations the level of workmanship varies of course, and some reach a level of art. The best part though is the sounds they all make, from a 4 cylinder model T to a Rousch built 600 HP+ monster, to the dragsters. I recorded a sound bite from one, a big Chrysler. It takes a second to get started, and the sound like an explosion is when the throttle was blipped. Very quick response.
