Oil Rigs off Santa Barbara

The town is called Carpenteria. This is because when the Spanish came here they found the Indians making canoes here and using the pitch to seal them. So the dreaded beach tar that we complain about is a naturally occurring phenomena. Now we pump oil out of the seabed. After sunset the rigs look like tall ships alight with festivity. I like them. Pump that oil! What a great development these rigs are.

The campground is a state park. A very odd place. Parking lot sites for RVs. People sitting and cooking and eating just like a Kansas City Chiefs tailgate party, without the reason for doing so.
