Mt St Helen

The view from above is impressive. On the ground at the visitor's center one can understand the size of the eruption here, on an intellectual level. Then seeing it from the air provides perspective as to the size and flow of the volcano.

Further south, one flies over Crater Lake. It is apparent that this volcano was an order of magnitude larger than St Helen. The lake seems to be bigger than the base of Mt St Helen, and the mountain in which the lame is contained is far greater in circumference. This Cascade Range is indeed a ring of fire.

I made an image on my iPhone using Camera+. I like this app, and hope Apple reinstates it to the app store. The little Easter egg that got it pulled is beneficial. I used the separate focus / exposure feature, and the volume button to snap the photo, silently. Then I played with the processing. All in the iPhone.
