Bella's Short Stack

Located in quaint old Algonquin IL, this breakfast and lunch diner has a nice, clean modern look, while staying small town country.

The menu has all the pancake and egg as well as a nice sandwich selection. For is from the Olympic Peninsula, the prices are amazing, meaning reasonable. Like $4.75 for a short stack of 3 buttermilk pancakes.

The day we visited service was a bit off. Nice enough, but oh so slow. A new server unable to help with the menu. And no help for her, so a Sunday lunch alone in the front of house. Poor ownership.

The food? Not bad, and I mean that. Not greasy, not poorly cooked. The short stack for which the place is named? Bad. Tough, tasteless.

Avoid this place.
